After days of difficult negotiations, U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson accomplished the seemingly unthinkable, striking a new Brexit deal with the European Union.
Boris wasn't able to celebrate for long.
A key ally, Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), rejected the deal, making it even more difficult to get through Parliament.
As was always the case with Brexit, all possible outcomes were still on the table, including another Brexit delay, a no-deal Brexit and a second referendum.
Sure enough, on Saturday, Parliament forced Johnson to ask the EU for yet another Brexit delay, which he grudgingly did — while he also simultaneously asked the EU to reject his request.
Meanwhile, Boris will keep pushing for his deal to pass before Halloween.
As usual, uncertainty reigns over the United Kingdom.
